Internal Bracing
All braces are made from quartersawn red spruce and radiused
to help prevent any future top distortion. Our bracing pattern
closely resembles that of the fabled Gibson Jumbo 35, 45, and
Advanced Jumbo models of the 1930’s and 40’s. The
brace pattern features a wider 100 degree brace angle 1 1/8"
from the sound hole, which creates a warm, blended, and less
strident tone than some other designs. Each top is treated individually
and the braces are fully or partially scalloped, depending on
soundboard stiffness and the customer's tonal preference. We
usually leave the treble side of the top brace thicker, which
produces a balanced mid-range and treble that still pulls out
powerful bass undertones. A medium sized maple bridge plate
combines tonal response with stability. |
Soundholes
Soundholes are slightly large, with a diameter of 4.125 inches,
which helps avoid an excessively "boomy" sound that
can wreak havoc with sound engineers.

Back
Braces
Back braces are also red spruce, shaped in a tall thin triangular
pattern that adds to the crispness of the sound in the manner
of the aforementioned Gibson models.
